2001 yamaha r6 loses power then dies

I was cruising on the highway and then my bike starts to stumble and lose power then it died. It cranked over good. So i check some simple things on the side of the road, gas tank vent is clear, Fuel lines are not kinked. So well i thought i was stuck but ill try to start it again. Left the ignicion on for a bit then started, little stumble then ran fine. drove it back to town and it happened a few more times. It seems to be better at lower speeds like 80 kmh vs 110+. Does anyone have any idea on what it is? Im almost sure its a fuel problem. Im going to take it apart this afternoon.

could be a coil going bad, whin you ride for a while at high speed the coil gets hot then shuts down, you can tell by lightly spraying water on each exhaust header to see with one is not hot.

cracked fuel filter, plastic didnt take the heat well by the looks of it. Looked for a steel one couldn't find it at canadian tire so bought a plastic one. I will replace with a steel one as soon as i can get to a real auto store.

Have you checked your fuel pump yet? I have heard of cases where the fuel pump starts to fail and causes intermittent fuel transfer. Also check that all four cylinders are working, seeing that its a 2001 (carb) it might be the diaphragms that are damaged and/or electrical issues (Coil/regulator/stator/earth wire etc).

+1 to chaka433. spraying the header with a spray bottle of water will tell you right off the bat what cylinder is running colder or not at all
