I Could'nt sleep much so woke up early and did some research and was looking thru the yamaha manual for the parts I needed.. I pretty much need the whole front from Number 1 - number 16 on the attached pic... I am going to stop by the collision shop later to take some pics of the bike and pick up the loose pieces and take it home... I have attached a pic.. anyone know how much it would cost to get the whole front and installed it ? also my right side fairings all scratched up but I dont care much about that.
the bike looked so weird naked without the front plastics.
what are you thoughts ?
did u check out the link i sent u? all the prices are there, and cheaper than dealer. www.mrcycles.com

Yea thanks mrcycles is a good site.. parts are pretty decent price, my other bet is to get parts from members on this forum, most of them seem like they have the parts I need.. the only part that I might need to buy is the
Upper Front Fairing Stay Bracket Yamaha YZF R6 (2008-2012) OEM #13S-28356-00-00 which cost about $150 to $250 all other parts I can get from mrcycles or here..... my insurance company progressive is going to tow the bike from the collision shop to their facility and they will decide from there.. but the claim rep told me that most likely they will total out the bike and issue me a check since I have full coverage.
I will see if I can buy the buy the bike back from them for like 1k ? lol.. if yes..then I will buy it and try to fix it up myself.. as a project and learn more about taking apart and putting back together the bike..... thing..

the fairing stay brackets are all over ebay and cheaper too.
i think a vehicle has to be 5 yrs old or older in order to be able to buy it back from the insurance and im not sure that applies to bikes because of safety reasons
i had a similar rebuild with my bike, basically whole front end was torn off... im in the process of rebuilding her, id say your in for about $1500 worth of damage or more if you want it back in mint condition...
i had to replace:
exhaust
engine cover
right lower fairing
right foot peg
right clip on
tank
new bar ends
brake lever
tail plastics
front fairing
headlight cluster (good excuse to get some HIDS in there if you ask me!)
headlight+clocks wiring loom
speedo
clocks and headlight bracket
air sensor + rubber bit
screen
mirrors
infill upper fairings
i think thats all of it, i may have missed somthing, the only way youll get it done for cheap is searching ebay for a long while and grabbing bargains, they are definitely out there and if you love the bike enough youll have fun rebuilding her!
Also get your forks checked out and bottom yoke checked out, things might be bent!
good luck with the rebuild and glad to hear your OK, trust me you came out lucky! next time wear full gear and safe riding!
id say get they will most likely total it, but you can defo repair the bike, depends how much you love it, check out how much youll get off insurance and weight it up, maybe you can just go buy another one
Easy to repair that bish. I high sided, dented my tank, broke my subframe and everything. She's almost done now mainly because I didn't have the funds and some other things came up.
Fairing stay bracket you can get from motobrackets. For the 06-07 R6 they had some fitment issues but the 08+ I've heard were fine.

Some things to think about if you want to rebuild:
How's your shop/garage skills and what kind of resources do you have for additional help if needed? Be careful you don't get in over your head if you don't have a lot of experience in the shop. The level of skill can also play into how long it will take to rebuild (less skill = more time). Between that and the availability of parts; how long are you willing to wait before you get to ride again?
What kind of tools do you have at your disposal? If you need to buy tools for the rebuild, you need to factor that into the cost of rebuilding yourself.
Consider what you can't/didn't see: For instance; did the tank get dented; or something banged up in the back you didn't see because you focused on the front. I noticed that your brake fluid container is nearly empty; did it leak out when on its side or did the line break? Basically, just watch out for the "little things" that can add to the cost real fast.
Not trying to be anti-rebuild, just trying to help you make the best decision. Rebuilding can be a fun experience and great for getting to know the machine very well. I personally love fixing my own stuff too, but there are times where it just doesn't pay off, so make sure you factor in all the variables.
Best of luck, and glad to see you walked away mostly unscathed.

I checked mainly most of the damage is on the front.. and the break fluid resorviors nipple broke off so it leaked out. the only thing is the muffler was dented a little.. it has an aftermarket Megaphone style muffler.. and also the right side fairings are all scratched up... and a few tiny scratches on the thing that you pour engine oil to.. engine cover ? front rims has some scratches.
the only tools I have are a big set of those craftsmen from sears... I do not have any special tools.. just the standard tools that most people would have at home.. and my garage skills is so so... I did manage to replace brakes and rotors on my 2003 bmw 530i.. by myself ... by reading online forums. not sure if thats enough ? I did some minor works on cars like replace spark plugs ignition coils.. and on motorcycles since I am new to this ... the only thing Ive done was change the oil and filter on my 2006 honda cr600rr when I had it..
I mean.. like I said I am not scared of trying.. but I am just worry maybe I will run into something I have no clue about. and I hope the forum would help... me and I am sure there are videos on it as well..
but not sure if I should... I am still debating... if i should take on this rebild project I will only be working on it during the weekends as I work during the week so I will probably spend most of my sat and sun on the bike.. but if the insurance company were to sell the bike back to me for 1-1.5k I will probably buy it.. but if it were like 2-3k I would probably not do it as it is not really worth it for all my troubles lol
