I just got the Shoei RF 1100 and took the bike for a spin tonight. First off I love the helmet, its real comfortable. But first thing I noticed was it seems to fog up immediately. I opened up the vent and that didnt seem to help at all. It doesn't seem to matter if I'm cruising at 60mph or stopped. Is there any remedy for this or is it common?
Second thing, crusing at 50mph or greater it seems to have a high pitched whistle. I tried opening/closing the vent, and opening the shield one notch but it seems to still be there. Is this common? I've been using my friends Icon Alliance until this one came in and I have never had it fog up on me or whistle like this.

My helmet makes the whistling noise, I wear earplugs so it's not as noticeable.. Wash shield with soap and water and see if that helps.. Only time my shield fogged up and wouldn't clear was at 23 degrees. I had to open the shield and let it clear........ The nose guard helps a little too with the fog.
I've heard the Qwest has been known to have a whistling problem but not the RF-1100. Here's a link about how a Shoei Qwest owner sorted it with shoei - might helpl?
It's gonna whistle. Do you have the vent open by your mouth? If I open that one the fog clears immediately and doesnt come back.

I have never had the whistle, and the only time it fogs is like the above mentioned, cold, and it clears up quickly. Maybe remove the shield, clean it, and reinstall...may help with both of your issues. My issue with this helmet is the left cheek pad comes unclipped from the rear of the helmet, but that is for another thread. Can you make the whistling stop by mashing on the shield while rolling? Are your top vents open? Good luck.

Yah I forgot to post saying the problem is cleared up. I didn't have a breath guard and it was like 50 degrees out. It's much better now. Same with the whistling. But about the cheek pads coming unclipped. Is there a fix for that? I got thicker cheek pads and now these ones never stay clipped in on the bottom.
