07 Track Build

Hi all!

Just picked this beauty up a couple weeks ago in order to get my track bike fix!

The bike will be turning into a complete track only bike with no intentions of going back to the street. It will be a slow process but enjoyable!

Picked it up with 16k on it!

Tucked in with my roomates Daytona 675

First thing to do was to get it all cleaned up and ready to part out all the stock bodywork. There was quite a bit of grime on it from it sitting outside for a year...but it cleaned up nice

After all the stock bodywork was off I picked up a set of rashed track fairings on the cheap and mounted them up for a trackday.

Some quick bondo action and some rattle can it was ready to go to the track! Of course after oil change, watter wetter and some other maintenance.

Tossed a quick number on there and got the bikes loaded up in the truck to head to Thunderhill

Sunrise on the 505!

Had an awesome time at the track first time with the R6

I have really come to enjoy this bike so far, I seem to be more comfortable on it than my 600rr. Cant wait to continue to mod it out and ride it where it really shines... the track!

Next on the list:
Braided Lines
Freshen up the bodywork
Re-spring forks/ get 08 forks
Samco Coolant Hoses
Levers
Exhaust
Fuel Managment
Trackdays!

Re: 07 Track Build

Little Update:

Picked up some Goodridge lines and some new pads for the front. Nice little upgrade and got the old fluid of there. Did some maintenance on the caliper by cleaning the pistons with some brake fluid and an acid brush to get all the brake dust off of them. They seem to be moving nice and free again with new fluid and lines.

One thing I did notice was the locking pin that the pads slide on. Mine were looking pretty tragic.

Took them and chucked them up in the mini lathe and took some 600 grit paper to them and polished off all the build up on the pins.

Turned out well and now my pads wont get caught up.

Keeping these pins nice and smooth is definitely going to be on my maintenance checklist from now on. Cant wait to see how the new braking system performs at Buttonwillow in a few weeks.

Awesome. If you ever want to make the trek down to SoCal for some track days let me know. I'm super busy at the moment, but next year I'd like to make the trek up north for Thunderhill, or the middle for Buttonwillow.

Re: 07 Track Build

Cant wait to try out Willow Springs! Its about 5.5 hours from me but seems worth the drive.

Just got my set of Pirelli SC2's mounted up getting ready for Buttonwillow on Labor Day!

Next up: Need to make a mount for my lap timer. Any good ideas where to mount this thing?

Come up and try out Reno Fernley Racetrack sometime; about the same drive at b-wizzle.

Depends what you're running... I've been told the tail of the bike is best for it to que up to the beacon... I have yet to run mine at the track...

So that's just an idea... From what I'm told, it's the most ideal location...
