What kind of HID's can you get away with using in Victoria/Australia?

Hi

I'm currently considering upgrading the stock headlights on my 2008 Yamaha YZF-R6 and would love to at least go for HID's possibly something more exotic like angel eyes halo but I'd rather not get pulled over every week and fined.

What are other riders experience with the law and HID head lights? Just what can be gotten away with and what is pushing the limit too far?

Btw I usually ride in South East Melbourne.

I decided to try my luck installing 6000k HID's, these will go on my 08 R6. It may have been safer to go with the 4300k option but I don't like the look as much. For what it's worth I've been driving around n my Mercedes SLK 200 with 8000k HID's and haven't had any issue there. Keep in mind though that that car came with Bi Xenon HID's factory installed.

Regarding my bike I'll also have red front halos and white rear halos along with internal red devil eyes. The halos and devil eyes will be on switches so that I can turn each section on or off as required. I will only have the red halos on for off road use. When riding I'll use just the rear white halos.

Some of my parts haven't arrived yet but I will definitely upload photos once there installed. I'm hoping to have the head lights up and running in the next few weeks. The wiring will take a little while and I tend to work slow, I take too much pride in my work even when doing wiring in places that cant be seen, lol.

Lights came to just over $1000 but they can be done much cheaper if you have the time to do the work yourself. I ordered a new OEM headlight housing for around $350 and had that shipped to Boris from BKMoto in America, I paid him around $200 to retrofit the halos and other hardware he is about to ship all that to me and that leaves only the wiring for me to do. Basically If I had the time to do more of the the work myself the price would have been over $500 cheaper.

The switches from PMR Components came to around $130 AUDbut if your less particular about how the switches look you could pick up the parts for under $20

You can pick up set of 5 of these on ebay for around 20 bucks and they look pretty flash

Very nice, I have a Clear Alternatives integrated taillight atm, I like the way the Motodynamic light blends in with the bodywork when it's off, there's a few companies now that make them like this and I have considered changing mine over on several occasions.
