What would you call this?

I was tightening a bolt down on my 07 r6 and it sheared right off. now it is slowly leaking oil out of the threads. the bolt head sheared off and the rest is still inside. i have a ez out i planned on using that to get it out and put a new one in. i just dont know what i would call it. heres some pics of where it is.

Re: What would you call this?

I don't think that big bolt is part of the stator cover. The cover is held in place with the smaller allen head bolts.

You'll need to check a microfiche for the bolt name. Hardware store may have what you need.

As for oil leak, you may have to replace a gasket. IDK

Re: What would you call this?

That's a stator cover bolt, but it's not the one that SUPPOSED to be in that spot... They're all supposed to look like the bolts that are on either side of your sheared one. Where did you get that, and who convinced you to put that bolt in that spot?

I stand corrected. Man, I don't remember seeing that on my bike... But it HAS been a while since I've seen my bike at all.

If that is the only place that is leaking when you get the new bolt you can use a lil gasket glue on the treads to keep it from leaking. More than likely it will stop leaking when you put a new bolt in there anyways cuz the head of the bolt holds the pressure against the cover to keep the cover sealed. Make sure you torque instead of guessing that is how u snap bolts lol locktite is you friend.
