Shock Mod

Has anyone attempted to swap shocks between bike of different years? I have an Ohlins rear shock for a 03-04 but now have a 06 for track. The only difference in the set up is the bottom mount, can I change the single pivot mount to a forked type? Any help of info will help.

Re: Shock Mod

Call Ohlins USA see if they can swap out the bottom.

I know with any Penske unit you can take the rear shock out of any bike and have it changed over to your bike for about $100 or so.

lol.. i honestly have no idea but nate has good advice. Contact ohlins USA or your suspension tech but shooting a text to Thermosman to find out

he indicated if it's an Ohlins, then no.. some shocks can have the reservoir moved to a horizontal position to get it completely out of the swingarm area, above it. My Penske we did that for an 05 r6 (had to with the 05 change even). on the 03-04r6 ohlins the reservoir is vertical and built there, not on a bracket that can be changed, and will get smashed by the swingarm.
