Why Are R6s Getting Slower Each Year?

I used to own an '07 R6. I remember I took my bike on a straight away and got to 169 mph, and I'm sure I could've pulled to 180. I watch top speed and acceleration videos on the '11s and '12s, and they seem to lack the same acceleration my '07 had as well as top speed. The videos I watch show '12s topping out at 162 or so. Can someone shed some light?
