May be a very stupid question, but in the summer time, my frame gets very hot when I ride. If I'm just riding around the streets in my jeans, my legs get extremely warm and I have to sometimes spread my knees away from my bike/tank to try and cool them down. When I'm in textile pants or leather pants, I still feel the heat coming through, but of course not as bad because they are thicker. You can't squid in shorts on my bike if you wanted to because your legs would get burned. In the cooler temperatures, frame doesnt get as hot, but still warm.
To the touch, my frame would literally burn you. You can't put your hand on my frame after I ride my bike for a bit in the summer. Its almost like touching the exhaust. I don't ever remember any of my other bikes having such an issue ... is this normal?

it doesn't sound normal. my frame doesn't seem to get hot like that and we rode in some stupid/hot weather this summer. but i never ride in jeans, either...

My bike gets pretty damn hot, especially when it's warm and humid in summer. It can get really bad when sitting around in traffic or at lights too. My fans always kick in before anybody else's that I rode with though, but my bike is the newest too. I have heard these engines running with factory settings don't do a optimal job at oil distribution and cooling. Facing the fact, your bike is made to fly with the wind..not sit behind a metro transit in traffic.
One of many things that could be slightly improved with a Power Commander..etc..if you have that on your bike. I am going to change my coolant quite soon anyhow, and see if that makes any differences this coming summer.
You're riding around on a little bit of metal that contains thousands of little explosions every minute. It's going to get warm.
Yeah that's why I never asked the question when I first felt it. I always chalked it up as a "Well, I am sitting on top of an engine @ ~180*F soooo...."
Thanks for the feedback guys. I'll deem it as "normal"

Yeah, pretty normal. There are things you can do to help it though. You can get your fans to come on at a lower temperature, use different coolants, change engine idle speeds, etc..
