Quickshifter problems... : Yamaha R6 : R6 Forum

I have the Bazzaz ZFi+QS in my 08 r6. The last time on track it all of a sudden just stopped working. I am pretty clueless when it comes to this stuff as it had everything installed when I bought the bike.

What would be the first things to check? Note that I don't have access to my bike for another few days so if there are a couple things that you guys think it could be, then I can try checking all once I can work on the bike.

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

I would go over all the connections in wiring when you get to other than that hard to tell really

I figured it would be tough. I checked the connection to the bazzaz unit to see if anything was loose, which it wasn't. I think I would need to take the tank off to see where the rest is connected?

Ya I'd do the same. Hopefully you find out what's wrong. I just ordered a quick shifter myself how do you like it?

Let's just say it sucked once it stopped working, haha. Not needed, but so much nicer having it.

Does the QS pressure switch light up when you press on the shifter? You need to check for continuity between the two wires that come from the switch. I forget how the bazazz works exactly, but with the switch open you should have (or not have) continuity, and with it closed, same thing. If you don't have continuity in one direction and NO continuity in the other direction, the switch is probably bad. I've seen them fail plenty of times in the past. BTW, you'll need a multi meter to test this.

If it is the switch, throw that junk away and replace it with a straingauge switch.
Had a few bikes with Bazzaz QS that has stripped the threads inside the quickshifter.
And it's also a old style contact switch.

You can replace it with any straingauge switch that is closing a circuit when loaded.
