Fork conversion?v 05gsxr 600 to 01 R6.

My friend is offering his forks from his gsxr600, he was in a crash and insurance is coming to get the bike.

My bike is down for repairs, a 2001 R6.

He has 50mm inverted, I have 43mm stupid ugly regular kind.(43mm is stock right)

IF this is possible, it would be very easy to take anything from his bike, so any parts (upper\lower triple tree, ect...) from his bike is no problem.

The catch is we have 3 days to swap before insurance comes and values\tows the bike... As in put my front end on HIS bike! luckly because he crashed it it does not have to be perfect..

Ive searched alllll around, maybe somebody has some knowledge on this, empower me!

Yamaha forks on a Yamaha, your bike will never run again if you put zuki parts on it......

Re: Fork conversion?v 05gsxr 600 to 01 R6.

You have to see if the triples will even swap before you can go any further. That entails measuring the bore of the stem and/or bearings. The stem length can vary a slight bit since you can bolt it further down the threads.

Bike: A slow one.

I wouldn't fck with it, personally... If only for the express reason that if you ever need to sell your bike, nobody will want your frankenstein of a bike.

Re: Fork conversion?v 05gsxr 600 to 01 R6.

I don't think I've ever seen anyone do this. Not saying it couldn't be done, but there is WAY more to think about then just swap out front ends.

Rake of GSXR, rake of R6 for example, is the geometry the same? Would you have to have the stems swapped from the lower tripples (more than likely, R1 fork swap requires it). You would have to use the entire GSXR front end including brakes and wheel. Definitely not something that can be done in 3 days without knowing what you are getting into.

If you wanna get REAL technical about it, we are all wrong and all model R6's use 43mm forks... True story.
