Some quick questions on the 2005 R6

Hey guys, I'm looking to get a leftover R6 this winter, and have a few quick questions for you all.

First, how comfortable is the R6 compared to the 01-03 F4i? I don't know if I'll get the chance to test ride a new R6 before purchase, and I'll mainly be using it as a street machine, so I'd like something that's sporty, but won't leave me sore after a full day of riding. The F4i is my only frame of reference as far as sportbikes go, but any other comparisons would help. I was considering the 05 636, but I don't like the colors and I hear it's got a more aggressive riding position. BTW, I'm 6'1", 175 lbs.

Second, does the coil problem exist in the 04/05 R6? Was it solved?

Third, can anyone please post pics of a red 2005 with the decals removed? I'm planning on putting a hairdryer to the stickers, per Dan Rivito's suggestion, and removing them. I photoshopped an example, but would like to see an actual bike.

Fourth, is there anything I should be concerned about quality-wise? Any glaring problems with the 2005?

Thanks in advance guys, I can't wait to get this bike!!!

1 - I rode an 02 F4i and own an 03 R6, I think they are both pretty comparable with each other for comfort, neither were really meant to be comfortable bikes.
2 - Yamaha never issued a recall on the coils, they just advised their mechanics to "look out" for the coils. I believe this was only a problem on the 03's so the 05's are safe
3 - Cant help you with question 3
4 - No real problems that I have heard of with the 05's. All around, the R6 is a great bike. Guess that is why I have one.

Good Luck

I believe someone on here has a red 05 without the decals. It looks damn good. Just go really slow because it can become a pain in the ass if the decals tear.

You wont be disappointed by goin with the R6. Its not possible.

Tommy, thanks for the response, I think I'll try to test ride a couple of used 05's at the end of the season to get a feel for it.

Dan, if I end up regretting my purchase, I'm going to come up there and steal your raven!!!

Thanks, but I must tell you...she is not a raven. She was born blue, then I ran her into the side of a mountain. Now, she has been rebuilt and painted all gloss black.

I ride a black R6, not a Raven.

And when you get your bike, check out www.dcsportbikes.com We are always ridin in the DC/MD/VA area.
