Supermoto dilemma. need help!

Hellloooo. it's been awhile since i've been on here. anyways..

im in the market for a sumo and have found 2 deals that caught my attention.

one is an 09 DRZ400SM with 7500 miles and full yoshi exhaust. It has been lowsided at a kart track but nothing major has happened. just few scuffs.
He's asking only $3200 for it because the bank still owns the bike. the bank that owns the bike isnt a local branch either. i think what i would have to do is get the bill of sale notarized so it's completely legal and have him send me the title once the loan is paid of?? i think that's how that works... thats the only thing holding me back from buying it.

on the other hand...

i found an 09 wr250x with 15k miles for $4000. Higher mileage and price but he has the title and i can pick it up whenever i want. the wr250x is also the color i want and is completely stock. it was also knocked ovre but it didn't slide.

oh yeah, the drz is still carb'd and the wr is fuel injected. ive heard the wr is just a smoother bike all around.

i know a lot of you love supermotos and can potentially point me in the right path lol.

let me know what your thoughts are.

cliff notes

-09 drz400 for $3200 but no title (bank owns it)
-09 wr250x for $4000 clean title but has higher mileage and price.
-which one to go for????

thanks for reading guys

Re: Supermoto dilemma. need help!

you won't like the 250. it's underpowered - BIG TIME.

see if you can find a WR450 that's been converted already to a street legal ride... you'll be glad you did.

yeah i know it has no power what-so-ever but it's just gonna be an "around town" bike. it almost has the same specs as the drz. the drz weighs about 30lbs more but has about 6 more hp on it.

any other options out there? id love to have a husky 610 but theyre too expensive for me to spend on a sumo.

The only way I would buy a bike with a lien would be if I personally handed the cash over to the bank.

I don't know anything about the WR so I can't help you there. But like I said in the other thread, I love my DRZ. Perfect street bike for what I need it for - cruising around town, a little canyon riding and some commuting.

Re: Supermoto dilemma. need help!

DRZs are awesome! I have one with big bore, cams, full exhaust, and an FCR carb etc.... ridiculous amounts of fun! Selling mine to try to do some AFM racing this year!

Good luck with your decision... I think the 250 would get old after a while. You can always find deals on parts for the DRZ to make it quicker if it gets old.

I'm with Colleen I picked my 09 DRZ up at the end of last riding season. By far most fun I've had on a bike. I could see the 250 being completely under powered. The 400 has decent power but definitely leaves a tad to be desired. Although I'm with Colleen with the fact that if I can't hand the bank the money and get the lien release right there I wouldn't by it. Way to many horror stories.

im only 5'7 at 145. i guess the drz is the way to go. i found a black on near me. an 05 with the usual mods asking 4k. 4k seems to be the average price for these guys no matter what year.

Re: Supermoto dilemma. need help!

My bike had a lein on it when I bought it. I met the guy at his house, got a signed the bill of sale, waited at his house while he went to the bank and got the lein removed, and took possession of the title when he got back.

Never owned a supermoto but have been looking for a while. You could probably wait and find another DRZ with a title if you wait a bit longer. They pop up for sale all the time. That deal does sound a bit shady.
