Re: New shock help

Check tire pressures. Looks like hot tearing.

Re: New shock help

Dunlop recommends 21 cold 23 hot. Check your gauge against other's. If it's consistant then you need to bump your pressures by .5 lbs at a time until it's gone. The tire should clean itself up pretty quick once you're at a good pressure.

Re: New shock help

there is the psi issue as pointed out above (but doubt 1psi either way would make it do that), but to the OP. You just paid for a NEW SHOCK, why are you not calling ktech and asking them ?? and are you sure you have the right tire compound? I suggest trying a Michelin Power Cup.. 190/55, and have a friggin blast.

Re: New shock help

Definitely low on the pressures.... I love those KR's. Another 1-2 PSI hot off the warmers should do the trick.

Depending on the weather, I run mine on the spec 23 hot and they wear awesome.

You shouldn't have to call Ktech, any local suspension expert will be able to tune or help if needed. There's nothing wrong with the shock, just how it's set OR the tire pressures (or a combination of both).

.. but you would need to PAY someone else, he ALREADY paid for the shock So why would calling ktech be a bad thing ??? They may have the hot set-up.

Some people won't charge anything, if much at all....... and unless you have a Ktech guy standing there looking at the tire, temperature, track conditions and riding style, their on-phone advice won't be as accurate as someone standing over the bike.

If someone can afford to pay for a shock like that, a few $20 bills shouldn't be out of the question for a proper analysis and set up.

Maybe their base "here's what we have on file" on the phone set up will work, but not on the first ride.
