Well, I got the tank cover removed and managed to do it without spilling gasoline everywhere.
I ended up having to remove a pair of additional allen bolts from the left and right hand side of the tank. Then the tank just lifts up pretty easily. The pains in the ass, though, were the 2 bolts on the
underside of the tank that needed to be removed to actually remove the cover. I used a towel to help prop the tank up a bit so I could get under it with a socket wrench.

Okay, that killed enough time. Wax should be dry now - time to go polish her up and bolt her back together.
