Yes you could put the clip-on's underneath. But the stock ones doesn't feel that well though. Go aftermarket. With the stock rearsets its just uncomfortable too.
If you're gonna race or do track days, it forces you to tuck in better, pretty much. I'm actually moving mine on my track bike when I put my new forks in.
