Haven't heard anything, but I'm curious. Just have to wait until the 09 parts catalogs come out (publicly) I guess

Re: Slipper Clutch Mod...

Sorry to bring this one out of the archives.

Youngbulls pictures are just red squares; do I need to adjust my settings or something?

Would really like to try this mod this weekend if anyone is out there that can help. please.

Dunno what's up with that. It's doing the same thing for me. I did find if you right click on the red square and select View Image (using firefox, might be different for other browsers), it will show the picture

A step-by-step write up w/good pictures would be greatly appreciated. I'm debating on doing this mod myself but I'm afraid of this shyte breaking on me half way through the season and causing a lot of trouble.

Re: Slipper Clutch Mod...

easy to do mod try the "stepped" version first before cutting off all the tabs. remember to reinstall clutch plates exactly as removed and soak them in oil before reinstall

Re: Slipper Clutch Mod...

Well I have done it... but getting the clutch cover back on is a (*^)(Y(_^#^%#% .

I decided to go with leave the two inner sprigs in tact and turn the top spring into a washer.

I have the pics but they are too large to upload...
I will have the complete write up by Sunday as i have twistie ride which is a good test..

Re: Slipper Clutch Mod...

As promised the clutch mod is complete....
And I must say this little mod is worth the few hours it took to do it.

What I don't get is why Yamaha did not do it from the factory as the sell a BShit kit that does the same thing...

Check it out.

If you guys discover anything strange let me know please...

So far I am loving this NO COST mod.

Re: Slipper Clutch Mod...

Does the clutch slip alot more, or just a little. In stock form the rear wheel skips all over on hard downshifts. Im wondering should i just spend the money and get an stm or yoyodyne. If the mod makes a big difference i will get rearsets instead. Do you know if the 2 full 1 washer works better than 1 full ,-6mm, -12mm method. Im going to do track days this coming season and i want to do this mod. I checked the part #'s with yamaha, the part # is the same for the y-spring on the 08 and 09.

Re: Slipper Clutch Mod...

My top clutch plate or two came loose and i'm not 100% sure I got it back in the EXACT way it was. It's the same order, just might be spun a few degrees one way or the other. does it really matter?
