Do any of you guys know anything about a code 12 for a 06 r6, I recently dropped my bike and changed the pickup cover(Right side case cover) and its showing a code 12 on the odometer. I know its the crankshaft position sensor, but do you know what might have happened and what do you think I should do? ANY Tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I wish, the brake lever is still stlightly bent and scratched up, the right side cowls are alittle scratched up, the exhaust is also scuffed up pretty deep and the right grip end is jacked up. But if I were to fix all that that would be perfect.
Ok, Thanks for the input guy's. You where right, I just didnt want to take the case cover(pickup cover) back off because I had sealed it to try and keep it tight. The edge of the block was slightly cracked, the bolt that holds the breathing tube bent from the crash and caused it to crack. Luckily for me it was more towards the inside and didnt crack to deep, so the threads still caught enough. Anyways after checking the resistance from the sensor and it showing 275which would be ok and then checking the wires to the ECU everything checked out ok. So then I had to quit being lazy and took the cover back off to rechecked the inside and had noticed with a flash light, the sensor looked a little weird on the back's edge. I then took the two locktightened Alans off and pulled back the sensor and sure enough the back of the sensor's plastic edge and magnet where slightly grounded off. It looks like the pickup rotor had maybe brazed the sensor. The sensors mounts also look like they are slightly bent. So as of right now I am awaiting a new crankshaft position sensor aka pick-up assembly from the local Yamaha dealership, anywhere else such as a web site would take awhile. So I will try and put that new bad boy in and hope that solves it. Any one have any input feel free to post I am alway's willing to learn more. Thanks.
I put the new sensor in and closed it back up again, plugged in everything and tried to fire it up again and unfortunately the error code twelve is still on and the main fuse is making some static sound when I push the start button. I've already tried unplugging the positive and letting it sit over night. I have no idea what to do now. If you guy's have any suggestions let me know?
