New times on the 06 at the strip

Got out to the 1/4 mile strip tonight again on the 06 now that im healed up from my lowside. Got 24 runs in (lol) in about 3 hours. First off I have -1 +2 sprockets and a strap. Started off launching at 12k rpm and wasnt happy with the times (mid 11s) and the top of 1st was feeling really shaky. Well about 15 runs in some of the other bike guys realized my chain was really loose and was probably slipping at the top of 1st. So we tightened it and it was amazing. Started launching at 8k and Kept dropping tenths and ended up with a best of 10.9@ 127 on a 1.85 60 foot.

Im very pleased i got into the 10s even though i know the bike is faster than that. Seriously I applaud any of you out there who drag your 06s, because they seriously have the worst powerband for drag racing ever. I dont know how the hell some of the magazines ran 10.5 with this stock, its just so difficult to launch the bike hard without bogging down the engine and getting out of the very narrow sweet spot on your powerband.

excellant times! Is the rest of the bike stock? (exhaust, filter, power comander) I also have a 06 R6 & yes its VERY hard to get over that low end bog just past the 60ft mark.I have only ran this bike 1 night(5 passes) cause it was a busy test & tune night & havent been to the track on anything in 2 yrs.I was pretty upset with the times for sure.Performance wise mines totally stock but im planning the gearing change real soon.

I was getting 1.8/1.9 60ft times with a best of 1.8660 on my last run but it seemed to fall off alittle after that point.I know if i had the gearing id be better off so im working on that & hope to get back to the track soon.I didnt have a strap ( i have one but need the differant mounting for the radial mount vs the old style) & im not sure what my RPM was ( i dont look) ive rode for 25 yrs and usually go with sound. It worked ok i guess but wasnt REALLY happy at the end of the day but i made pretty good progress with only 5 passes to work with.

Nice times! I understand fully about how hard it is to launch this bike. It was really bad with the stock gearing but is much more manageable with the -1/+2 combo. I'm not really a drag race guy anymore since I sold my car but I do take my 06 out once in a while to practice my race starts. As long as I'm there I am going to make a full out run anyway right? So far my best is an 11.11@127 unstrapped. I know there is a 10 in there somewhere and would like to do it with it unstrapped. So far I have only made like 10 passes with this bike as the tracks out here take forever to get more than a few runs in each night.

My buddy ran a 10.5 @130 yesterday but he had a graves exhaust and power commander with the front straped down.
