HID problems

Hey guys, just bought a HID kit off ebay. It was one of the $70 ones that came with 2 ballasts. My question is, Im current running it straight from the original globe inputs, and it did run fine for a week.

Every now and again I find it turns itself off while im riding. Im not sure if this is an overheating problem??? (Ive got an 04 r6, and its just behind the windshield).

Or is it likely a dodgy ballast?

Re: HID problems

bad connection, bad bulb, bad ballast. one of those three and even maybe a combination.

Re: HID problems

Are both of them turning off or just one. If only one is turning off you can try running the ballast on the opposite side and see if it turns off. If so, it will be a bad ballast like J.DenhamR6 said. I also had a bad ballast and that is how I troubleshoot my problem. GL

Re: HID problems

Ok, I've got the Helligkeit. Ive only got the one side running. So I guess ill just swap the ballasts around and see. Mainly wanted to know if anyone had overheating problems mounting their ballast behind the windshield.

Btw, the 04 headlights are projectors.

Re: HID problems

Re: HID problems

A friend of mine bought a cheap hid kit for his and it turns off every once in a while. He said the ballast wasn't getting hot. It has been a problem with cheap kit's.
