Is it necessary to take off the side fairings/cowlings to install this slip on?
The only reason I ask is because my bike is parked in a friends garage for the winter and theres little to no room to work over there. I'd like to install this beast asap, but will wait if I have to mess with the fairings/EXUP motor/quick fasteners, etc. Thanks in advance.
i had one on my 06 and you dont necessarily "have" to take of the side fairing, but it makes it a little easier. just find a good spot to tie up the cable for the butterfly valve.

Thanks baxter. Anyone with an '08 have any input? Not sure if the cowlings are that much different. Looking at the instruction that came with the muffler, it looks like a child could install this. I just don't want to turn a 15 minute job in to something more. Spring is around the corner, but I don't want to wait till then to throw this on.
you do not, however you need to remove both the exup cables completly. The one on the side of the exhaust is super simple, but the other side is kinda hard to get it if you have bigger/average size hands. But with that being said, takes 10 minutes to do

Na, don't have to take anything off, take ur time. +1 on the exup cables, maybe wanna wait for a little extra room to do those but you can do the slipon with no trouble.
