I actually bought an 07 subframe from a member on this forum a month or 2 ago, and used that for the starting point.
After doing some measuring and test fitting, I found the mounting points on the 07 subframe would just not work, no matter how you cut or modified the subframe, not to mention the widths from the original subframe and the 07 were totally off.
So after some more measuring and messing around, I decided that I would use the gas tank mount as a guide for measuring the distance needed on each side to splice on part of the original subframe.
In short as you can see in the second "after" picture, I had a shop weld the donor pieces from my old subframe, then had them fishplate the inside for extra strength (since i dont have a TIG at my disposal).
After getting the subframe back from the welding shop I started the non structural cosmetic work. (Third "after" picture).
I took the mounting pieces from the 07 subframe and cut off the mounting holes then jb welded them inline with the existing pieces on the hybrid subframe. I had previously test fit the subframe, and had marked where i wanted to cut the pieces to make the lines flow properly. So after making the cuts, I smeared on the rest of the JB weld and clamped it in place on both sides, then made a piece to make the bottom line flow aswell and did the same as i did to the top.
After the JB set for a day, I ground it all smooth and covered all joints with flowable putty (dupont), then sanded it all smooth and primed and painted.
Thats about as accurate a description as I can give. If you'd like measurments for cutting points ect, just let me know, or better pictures, with explainations.
