Getting your rims clean?

Hello fellow R6'ers. After looking at these forums non-stop for days, Ive come to the conclusion that all of you guys are awesome. People ask noobish questions and none of you guys flame. Anyways...

How the hell do you get your rims clean? I've used so much brake clean on 'em. They'll shine for a little but there seems to be some kind of film or something that will not come off. Anyone have any suggestions? Also, in other posts, people suggest simple green but I'm guessing if brake cleaner doesnt do the job, neither will simple green.

I use Simple Green, I love that stuff! What color are your rims? I have an 04, with the black rims and cleaning with brake cleaner actually dulls the finish of painted or powdercoated rims...which then leaves what looks like the film. I am guessing maybe that is what you are seeing? I dunno...

I just shoot some Simple Green on there, wash 'em off, then wipre them dry

WD-40.

I know it sounds weird, but the WD-40 actually cleans pretty damn well. Just don't get any on your tires or other parts of the wheel. Just spray a rag with the WD-40 and wipe the rims down.

Ladies and Gentleman, this is a prime example of why we wear helmets when we ride.......

I would think Simple Green or Citrus Solve would work fine although citrus solve might be a little harsh as well.

Or something like......

WHEEL MIST® MULTI PURPOSE WHEEL CLEANER

Your wheels can become dirty in all manner known to man. As automotive rims are manufactured with various finishes, any effective wheel cleaner must be able to tackle all kinds of dirt on numerous surfaces. You need a universally effective cleaner to take care of every type of grime, grease, brake dust and dirt-enter Mothers® Wheel Mist® Multi Purpose Wheel Cleaner. Our spray-on/rinse-off cleaner is formulated to be gentle to clear-coated, anodized, polished, color-coated, modular and factory-treated wheels and hubcaps. This is the powerful cleaner with a velvet touch.

I take mine to the car wash, spray simple green full strength on them, wait about 4-5 minutes, and power wash them clean. Works like a charm.

When I get home I dry them with a clean towel.
