Re: 2006 R6 swingarm onto 2000 R6 frame swap

I know it's been a while....things happened and the project got delayed.
Had a subtalar fusion done on my right foot back in august and that put me out of work and on bed rest for 2 full months and then the long recovery, which I'm still working on...
In the middle of all that, my daughter was born...my best creation yet!
As for the bike, the gas tank is being painted flat black with flat clear coats at a pro body shop so this week I should see it back and that will speed up the rest of the project, as I'll be able to start the engine and get those fluids going.
See you all later this week.

Re: 2006 R6 swingarm onto 2000 R6 frame swap

Hi guys,
the tank is back and now things are gonna move faster.
I'll have it running by next week which will be an amazing milestone since it'll have been about 3 years sinc I last started it and before that, it had ran for the last time in october 2006...when I inflicted a lot of damage to it and myself....
I think I should move this thread to "builds", how do I do it?

Here I have a couple of pics and more excuses for not being finished...my zx10r was in major need for maintanance and I had to dive into that project as well....can I finish 2 bikes when I can't even finish 1?
Well, I'd better!
Oh, check out that battery, made in china (sorry) for a third of the cost of a speedcell....also made in china...
See you all next week.

Re: 2006 R6 swingarm onto 2000 R6 frame swap

I also found the R6 part's bucket, got the front rotors out, coolant bottle, throttle assembly and many more parts....pretty much everything to finish the bike...I'd forgotten about it.
I think I'm gonna do some paint work to the center of the rotors, I'd like to change it from black to red or blue, just to give them a bit of character...I got too much black going on.

Re: 2006 R6 swingarm onto 2000 R6 frame swap

hey guys, I'm looking for an 06 subframe but one in bad shape. As long as the 4 mounting points are intact I can use it. I posted an ad in the parts wanted section.
Donations? of course I'll take a donated mangled subframe....I'll pay for the shipping
Let me know if you are tired of your damaged subframe taking space in your garage.

Thanks,

racer155

Re: 2006 R6 swingarm onto 2000 R6 frame swap

Hi everyone!

today I feel I've accomplished a lot. I cleaned the petcock and fuel sensor, gave them new gaskets (the original ones were brittle) and mounted the tank.
I also installed the radiator but I am going to get a newer one. Upon close inspection I realized it is bent to shit and dented beyond my liking but for now, it'll do...I just want to start the bike.
Ram air tubes are on, stator cover with its new gasket is on.
I also realized I sold my triple tree with the ignition and the key so starting the bike today won't happen. I had decided to go with a switch of some sort for the ignition and a friend of mine is looking into an aircraft grade one, I think it'll be a nice feature.
Tomorrow I'll pick up some water wetter and ask the guys at the shop how to rig the wiring until I have a switch. I also replaced the throttle assembly and things are looking good.
Still looking for that subframe....
Later guys!
