Re: How to Clean TPS 03-05R6 06+ R6s

Should have read this first before just all out replace the tps. Pulled it off and yup, was dirty as hell. Since I got the new TPS, I just put the new one one. Feels good to have good throttle response back, specially on the low end. Always hesitated and had the stupid idle/stall issues. Great write up!

What's a normal reading for the TPS at rest and WOT?

EDIT: Just found it on Page 2.

Normal minimum readings should be between 15-17 and maximum should be 97-100

I've cleaned the shit out of my TPS and the best i can get is 17-96...might just have to save up a couple weeks and get a new one

if you have no issues with throttle response or jumpy idle, then you are fine. I think most issues are with sensitivity on the low end when you roll on the gas around town or have a ****ed up idle.

Ok cool. What exactly does the TPS control? What would theoretically happen with a lower max value? (ex: 94 instead of 97-100).

Exactly what full name implies. It's a Throttle Position Sensor, it is used to tell the ECU where the throttle is at: closed, full open or in between; usually in percentage. It's helpful for the ECU to know this for ignition and fuel injection timing.
