Just installed the QS on my '17
all went well, but I can not get the programming to bring the QS light up on the tach.
lift the shift lever & hold for 10 sec while turning the key on...

I have not, but I can't imagine any other special setting is needed other than what the instructions say. Have you tried holding it up I till QS lights up. As in possibly more than 10 seconds? Also can you post a picture of the instructions. I don't have mine handy.

Also it not sure how you did it, but I think you hold up on the shift lever and turn the key on while you hold it and continue holding for 10+ seconds until QS lights up.

Not sure if this will be much of a help but I figured it might be worth a shot.

He doesn't really describe what he did to get it to work but maybe following the vague steps he provided can lead you in the right direction

Interesting that motonosity had a similar problem. Based on what he was saying in the video.

I would try this sequence:
Get on bike turn key on (engine off)
Shift to third then down to second
Turn key to off
Hold up lever (don't touch clutch)
While holding turn key on wait 10-20sec

I'm thinking maybe it won't program in 1st because neutral is the the way. Probably needs to feel pressure, so may work better if you hold pressure on it when it's stuck in gear. (Like when your trying to shift up when stopped bike off)

Damn hope you figure it out, cause your going to love it!! Post up what you did when you figure it out.

LOL! I watched this video BEFORE I did the install, just to see what I was in for. He got his to engage but has no idea how he did it. I was hoping I wouldn't run into the same problem. I'll work on it tomorrow and let you guys know.

I don't know if this is actually true or not, but the dealer that did mine last week said that they had to "raise the gas tank to scan something to make it pop up in the software." Now, take that with a grain of salt if you'd like, it's a dealer, but they were super cool with me and told me that while it did take them an hour, they'd only charge me $80 since their lead Yamaha tech did it for the first time and he noticed that they "left that out of the directions."

You let them charge you for something that yamaha handed out with the bike? The only thing that dealer would get is my bad review of their shop on google

I had them install mine for free, or i would of done it myself. Also it states on the instructions that the "book labor" is .5 of a hour. So that's all they should charge. I've worked in a shop for 14yrs and that is how it's supposed to work. Also there is no programming needed in the Ecu for the quickshifter to be added.
