Handle Bar Riser question

I recently purchased a 2004 YFZ rs600. I have been looking at different risers to lift the grips and bring back toward me some. I have looked at the Apex brand. What do I need to look for when buying clip on risers? The second part of this question is. The OEM mounting brackets look totally different than the risers I see online for sale. Do I need to be looking for a perfect match to them or will any clip on riser work. Obviously would need to be the same diameter as fork tubes I mean other than that.

I purchased those apex clip ons, the 4"ones. I raised it as far as it will go with stock brake lines and stock clutch and throttle. I also bought some Yamaha grips because i wanted new ones.

Re: Handle Bar Riser question

Just curious, why did you buy the risers?

I find myself banging the tank with my hands/forearms/elbows on occasion, mainly during right turns.

Is this something you experienced as well?

i got tired of the crouched position, so instead of buying a new bike, i raised the bars.

Is this something you experienced as well? My grip use to get tired, hands numb from the constant pressure on them. The new bars are awesome. I just found the company to make me some custom clutch and throttle cables. (Motion Pro)
