Which year R6 for track bike?

Hey all! So I recently started my search for a good track bike. I used to have a 2008 R6 that I loved and should have never sold, but thus is life. Now I’m in the hunt for one again.

I’ll primarily be using it as a track bike and would prefer not to go the salvage title route as it’ll be on the street here and there.

Which year R6 has the best mix of attributes based on your knowledge? I know the newest ones got ABS, traction control, and better front suspension/brakes. The 08 I had was also the year, if I recall correctly, that it got the active velocity stacks.

What’s everyone’s thoughts? Which year is the way to go?

what is your pace/ability? You not wanting a salvage title/blank frame bike... is gona cost something.
Riding it on the street is probably not the best idea.
You didnt say what your budget is... gona assume $7,000-$12,000??

08+ are all good. 08-16 are basically all the same. 17+ are good with the electronics, but cost quite a bit more.

For your money? An 08-16 with suspension and other mods already done is the best bet.

Re: Which year R6 for track bike?

It seems like I can find any of them for $10k and below. Maybe I'm overthinking it, but a salvage title could mean a lot of things and it's very hard to tell without flying out to look at it extremely closely.

Does anyone have any track experience with the 2017+ with the electronic goodies they can speak to?

As far as ability, I track cars regularly and have ridden motocross growing up. That still makes me a beginner for road race bikes, but I'd like to think I have a good base understanding.

IMO, rather than look for a particular year and limit yourself, do as suggested above, easier to find. GL

Do you have to leave so soon? I was just about to poison the tea.

There's some good advice in here.

Chillin'... while the Lord watches over me!

I love my R6, but...there's no buts...
