First gear clunk/slap from stop

What up, everyone! (or whoever is left here lol)

Been a while since i've posted anything but having an issue with my 2008 and looking for any and all help/assistance.

Just started a couple days ago...from a stop and accelerating in first gear there is a clunk/slap which sounds like its coming from my left side. I first thought it was chain slap as my chain was a bit loose but i adjusted the slack within spec and it's still there.

I have no loss of power, no codes, or anything else.

I've read the possibility of it being the cam chain tensioner but wanted to get some opinions before i replaced that.

Bike is a 2008
Has appx 19k on it

thanks in advance!

I believe ive figured out the problem and think its a bad chain.

Ive got a couple tight spots in the chain and decided to tighten it a little more than spec which caused it to mostly go away.

I ordered a new chain and sprocket kit which will get here Monday or Tuesday. I'll install that and report back.

Just a quick update...

Did an oil change and no metal or anything like that. Put the new chain/sprockets on...issue is fixed. Was just a bad chain.

Cheers
