Unhappy 07 R6 Bazzaz Cold Start Idle Issue (AFR? BackPressure?)


I installed a Bazzaz Z-FI + Z-AFM 4.9 and I put a relatively close map to my bikes specifications. It was kinda rough at first, but the Z-AFM greatly helped smooth absolutely everything. I am running a full GYTR system with a K&N Filter.

My only issue is when the engine is cold (every morning) it takes a bit longer to start up and crank over. The bike is extremely laggy and almost near 0 throttle response until it's been running for 30sec-1min. If I rev the engine above 3.0K RPMS then it'll drop to 0.5k - 0.8k RPMs and die out. Sometimes it is able to recover and get back to normal, but rarely.

Also, it WILL always dies out just around 104F and I have to hold the throttle open around 1.8-2k RPMs and once it reaches 135F it is totally normal.

Once the bike is warmed up, I can let loose on the revving all I want and nothing happens. Do I need to enrich the lower RPMs or lean it out? Any advice is much appreciated!

I have done the following:
Clean Plugs
3-month-old coils
91 Octane Gas
TPS seems very responsive once the bike is warmed up
Just had valves checked less than 3k miles ago and were minimally out of spec (it was doing this before as well; im at 28k miles)

the mapping needs the cold idle enrichment adjusted. it's too lean or the throttle is not open enough when the engine is cold. it could be a combo of both. I don't know how you can do it with bazzaz's software as I 'have no experience with it. but I can do it to mine with woolich racing flashing system. I would assume you can do it with bazzaz's software too.

don't get too anxious to make a bike perform properly when it's cold. the injection system isn't as sophisticated as a car. so it needs time to warm up properly. even my new bike will hesitate and stumble if I crack the throttle open fast when the engine is cold. that's straight from the factory. I changed my mapping with a flash instead of a piggyback system like the bazzaz and it doesnt do it as bad. your bike will need at least 3 mins of idle time to heat up enough to behave normally. but it should idle on it's own without dying. if you get it to that point, that's all you need to worry about. if its not acting right after 3 mins and the engine temp is 160+ then worry.
