Yup! Simple and cheap. If you have a battery tender.

This build was, for me, very very cheap. As I already had the outlet, a USB car charger, the soldering stuff, the fuses, and all the wire and heat shrink and miscellaneous tools on hand, I only had to buy the Add-A-Circuit. I'm obviously not telling people that this is the only way to do it (or even the ideal way to go about it) but simply that this build and 'all that crap' that goes along with it worked out perfectly for me.

Besides, I'd rather build something myself. Ya dig?

Re: USB Charger - STUPID SIMPLE

just wanted to ask, or I didn't see it, is the voltage dropped down to 5 volts? that's what most phones and gps run on. I would hate to see you plug in your iphone and it fries itself because of too much voltage.

There's a car usb charger plugged in to the 12v outlet. It steps it down. Just like if you were charging your phone in your car. Because it's the same thing.

mbad, I didn't read read the post you made. sorry mate. I ended up going to auto zone and getting a "cig" lighter with a weather cap and already has the inline fuse. then do what you did and drop in the adapter. I was just messing around the other night and found two 9volt batteries in series will charge a fully dead ipod to 50% through one of those adapters.

This thing! <<That's a link.
Tapping in to the battery will drain the battery, not such a good idea, always make sure you use circuits that are switched on ignition.

I like this idea but the major problem is that with the add-a-circuit installed you can no longer close the fuse box cover, leaving it's contents exposed to the elements
