What was your first bike?

I started out with a Honda CB400 from 1979. Went on by riding a Honda CB750 from 1980.

Fell in love with a blue Yamaha R6 2001. Never bought another bike again... ;-)

2017 KTM RC390 (only six weeks under my belt)

Yes, might be controversial, I have only been riding for six weeks since taking the MSF course in late March. Got myself the RC390 and went out every day for 2-3 hours of parking lot and back road practice since. Had my first track day Monday last week and learned a ton. Put down a deposit on a 2017 R6 same week and will pick it up next week.

Let me hear all your arguments why it's crazy to upgrade to a 600cc (and an R6 on top) after only six weeks of total lifetime riding experience. I have to admit that I am a bit intimidated by the bike but I feel ready if I play carefully. I demoed it for a good number of laps at the track day and it felt ok.

Thoughts?

you can totally do it dude. i had a ninja 250 as my first bike and rode that puppy for about a month before my buddy let me hop on his GSXR 600. i wish i could have just messed around on someone else's bike for about a month or two then actually buy my first 600. i love my r6 now, and i wish i had started on it sooner.

Re: What was your first bike?

eh my first bike was actually a Z50 that was small enough to hide in my parents garage coat closet.
Until the stink of gas and a late winter storm got me busted!
