Steering damper fitment for 2005 R6

Hi,
I searched for a posts on steering dampers, but none answers my specific question.
I have a 2005 R6 (inverted forks, radially mounted calipers, etc.) I want to buy a steering damper, but I do not know what to look for to make sure it fits my bike. Some dampers on Amazon say they fit 2006+ models, but I don't know the differences between the year models. I do not want to drill any holes on the bike, so I need to use the screw holes that are already available on the 2005 model. So if anyone with a 2005 model already has one, what kind of hardware do you need to properly mount the damper on the steering? Is it better to mount it on the top of the triple, or below the triple, or somewhere else?

TL;DR: How do I make sure that a certain steering damper fits my 2005 R6? What adapters/brackets/braces should I look for?

well how much do you want to spend for one? the scotts may run you $500 or more but bolt to the top triple nut. and are easy as pie to install. the shock absorber like one's often have cumbersome mounting brackets etc.

call a few places like Sportbike track gear or riders discount. they may be able to find you a good damper kit for that bike. keep in mind since it's an 05 finding good aftermarket parts is going to be hard.

Definitely not $500! I saw some for less than $100 on Amazon; they all claim "universal fit", but do not mention whether it requires any drilling holes, cutting plastics, etc. So if takes special brackets or adapters, I'm willing to buy them. But if it requires drilling or machining the frame, that's a deal breaker.

Any within $100 ballpark with assured fit for 2005?

they usually do not require you to drill the frame etc. but I have never looked into any of the ones on amazon etc. but they usually clamp on to other parts like your fork caps, the mount for the gas tank. the top tripple clamp nut etc. if you're having to drill holes you're doing it wrong.

I have seen a lot on alibaba. you can get 5 of them for $40 lol

Heck, even if those things last 1 riding season, they're probably worth it!

Amazon description says it fits 2006+ R6. Do you knwo if 2006 steering column is any different from 2005, since they're both inverted forks?
