coolant leak???

hi guys im new to the forums so not sure if im posting in the correct place.

I just bought an ex race bike 2006 that had been sitting for about 5 years ive done an oil and filter change drained and flushed the coolant system and then started the bike.
now the bike starts and runs fine with no smoke or overheating as far as I can see, but when I checked over to see if I had any leaks I noticed a leak from what I think is the inlet manifold I have attached photos so you guys will be able to tell me where it is and if this is a major problem.

praying for it to be an easy fix and not a cracked block or head gasket problem

thanks

Re: coolant leak???

Coolant runs through some lines above that spot. You'll need to lift the tank and confirm where it's coming from.

Re: coolant leak???

ive had the tank off just now and it seems to be coming from the rubber boot that the throttle bodies slide into!
I cant see that there is any coolant lines running through the throttle bodies in the manual but it doesn't really show much

Re: coolant leak???

Yours could be a little different, but if you trace the coolant lines running from the back of the radiator just below the radiator fill cap, over to what resembles an electric motor on top of the throttle body, look for leakage there. It may simply be running down the TB. I believe that's the only coolant connection "to" the TB assembly. I'll want to double-check, but don't recall any coolant lines running directly into the TB assembly itself. Disconnecting it is just pulling the fuel, throttle cable and wire harnesses. That's an "auto choke" setup, responsible for closing off airflow as the coolant temperature increases. (most modern automobile gasoline engines handle this electronically instead of mechanically - ECU reads ECT and adjust IAC motor/solenoid)

There may be another line running over the top of the transmission, that connects the coolant reservoir with the radiator.

Re: coolant leak???

the thermostat housing is up there on the back of the cylinder head. it's probably that. there's also a water pump breather hose that runs up there.

it's the small hose coming off the pump and goes right up there in the second picture. the outlet pipe of the thermostat is on the left side of the bike. it's big and comes out mid way up on the bike and connects to the bottom of the radiator. follow that hose under the throttle bodies, that's the thermostat housing.

your problem is one of those 2 more than likely.
