Battery question

My R6 is an '07 and has a dead battery. I just got a new charger and it has settings for different types of batteries. I suspect the battery is an AGM; can anyone verify that?

Thanks!!

Re: Battery question

No, but you can. Look on the battery label. It's very likely to be AGM though.

Re: Battery question

I pulled it out and it didn't say anywhere on the battery, but Google on the part number says it is. AGM mode on the charger seems happy with it so should be good.

Re: Battery question

lead acid and agm are the same thing. agm means absorbed glass mat. so instead of cells filled with sulfuric acid only it has fiberglass matting saturated in the acid. it has a lot of benefits over traditional flooded cell batteries. the main one being you don't have to keep it on a tender. it has a slow self discharge rate. it is able to sit unhooked from the bike for 14 months without a charge. other benefits are you can mount it in any position and it wont leak.
