Exhaust Question

Iím in the process of cutting the cat off my 2007 R6 and installing a y pipe with a 2 bros slip on. (Not to crazy about the 2 bros but it came with the bike). Will be installing a power command with an auto tune. Iím sure getting rid of the cat will free up a few ponyís but Iím thinking that I would like to eventually get a complete exhaust system. The question I have is the cost worth it to get the complete exhaust system. Am I going to gain much power over the stock head pipes with the cat cut off and a y pipe with slip on muffler installed.
Thanks

Re: Exhaust Question

only you can make that choice. IMO, the stock headers are pretty good. in the old days, the first thing you'd do is pitch the exhaust and get aftermarket. Now, the factory exhaust, at least the headers, are pretty efficient. It's the stuff they add after the headers for noise and smog that F it up. If you're serious about the full system, don't bother with the Y-pipe and wait until you go full boat. If you're not sure you'll get the benefit, do the Y-pipe, smile, and enjoy the ride (and the extra money in your pocket).

Do you have to leave so soon? I was just about to poison the tea.

Re: Exhaust Question

Thanks oldbonez, ordered the y pipe - going to get rid of the cat - run a 2 bros. slip on and call it good. 😊

Good call, I went with a similar set up, stock headers, m4 mid pipe, and a slip on. Couldn’t be happier. Huge weight savings also..

Re: Exhaust Question

It was kind of a bitch getting all the baffling out of the headers right after they join together but itís clean now. Hope to get everything back together (exhaust that is) tonight. Still waiting on the return of my ECU.
