Hi
I have 09 R6 recently got mp4 slip on and midpipe installed, cat deleted. before the modifications the bike idle just fine. After the modification, The bike start just fine but when the temp is about 115, the idle won’t hold and the engine shut down, I have to give a little bit of throttle to keep it running. I sent out my ECUs to flash and they load the power commander map to it base on what I did to the bike. Now it is still need a little bit of throttle to keep it running until the temp reach 150, idle just fine. But when the temp reach 195 and the fan started the idle fluctuated at 1500-1600. If anyone got any idea how to solve this problem. Please let me know.
Much appreciated for all comments
I sent it to superbikeunlimited . Talked to them so many times about this problem, and I m told nothing gotta do with the mapping. They did what is base on my modification..
i asked them if I m getting a power commander.
Will it help. He said it will smooth it out a little bit. Still I am not sure if I should buy a power commander
Sounds like you probably need to talk to someone else. My suggestion would be to call Anthony Corbin at Bauce Racing. Tell him what is going on. No one that I know of does a better job with the ECU flashing. He has thousands of maps in his database from real dyno tuning. Unfortunately it may require sending your ecu out to him.
But there is nothing a power commander can do that can’t be done with an ecu flash.
lol those guys at superbike unlimited sound pretty stupid. surprised they ran a race team in motoamerica now.
the bike is probably going into closed loop mode too soon. with the stock exhaust ect removed it may need to stay in open loop longer so the engine has more time to warm up and stabilize. all of this is adjustable in the other mapping options in ftecu and woolich racing flash software. and the fact they used a power commander map in the ecu flash screams incompetence. they charged you for something you could have done yourself with a power commander. the maps are free to download from Power commander's website too LOL. they stuck a big ol D up your ass. I would demand a refund.
I just sent it back to superbike unlimited. They will do the update for me. Hope this will fix the problem. I will let’s you guys know when the ecu get back.
Check for any physical problems. A small air leak somewhere could be the reason their map that usually works didn't work on your bike. Removing that much restriction from an exhaust would be expected to make idling more sensitive than stock, but 1600rpm sounds like the wrong ultimate fix. Everything everyone here has said sounds true, too.
