I was recently surfing on ebay and happened to come across someone selling magnetic oil drain plugs. They reportedly catch fine shavings and grit that the filter does not. Are these worth the money or should I just leave my stock plug in there?
taking that idea one step more. I seen a magnetic slip that goes over the oil filer. Idea is the fine metal particles are stuck to the inside of the filter case. sounds like a good idea. it also has a bunch of metal fins to act like a heatsink.

They're probably not going to pick up enough to be worth it.
