Tires

So the time has come for some new rubbers. I’ve been running Dunlop Q2’s but wanted to see what everyone else likes.

Re: Tires

This is debated all over the forums. You will get a lot that says they like the Pilot Power 3's and then you will get a lot that says they like the Q2's. Buy one set this time around then buy a different tire another time around and compare.

Me personally, I have always run the Pilot Power 3 and see no reason to change.

One thing you forgot to mention is whether this is for street or track. You will get a different answer from track guys then you would street guys. Although most street tires work just as well on the track for average pace, it's just track guys are less concerned about longevity.

I've just changed to Bridgestone BT16 hypersport pros and they are fantastic on the road in dry wet and I did a track day a few weeks ago and there was no stopping them

I put a set on my west coast bike a 2008 R1. THey work pretty good without warmers. I ran abit different pressures than the vendor suggested. They had "cold" pressures... I dont run my tires cold.
Ended up with 36 in the front and 28 in the rear. These pressures were without tire warmer in 100 degree northern california ambient temps.

Did you ride them on the street? How are they on the street.

um no... I dont ride on the street like I mentioned in the other thread.
I doubt youd be able to tell a difference riding 1 tire from another so long as they are properly inflated. A street tire will heat up quick and give predictable traction in the wet. The more sipes the better in wet.

When I was out west... some shops were offering the S21s at $300 installed. Some were still selling Q2s...lol
However since I was riding Thunderhill... I went with what they had there at the track. Was worth the premium to have a knowledgeable pro mount the tires instead of some beginner dealer tech.
