Hello World - New bike, hows my to-do list?

I've been a member on this forum for a while, but I can't see pictures or links yet so I guess I better get to posting!

I'm located in the Raleigh, NC area. I finally joined the club and bought a 2005 R6 last week. I've loved the 2003-2005 styling since I was in high school, and I was very lucky to find one on Craigslist that had nearly all the cosmetic mods I wanted already done. It's got a lot of miles (37k), but it seems well taken care of and I'll continue to do the same.

The previous owner mentioned some charging issues, and it actually didn't start the second day I had it--that was scary! (thinking, was THAT why it was so cheap?!) I took out the battery and put it on the battery tender jr. and it started right up when I reinstalled it. While I was under the seat with the battery out, I found a corroded/split wire going to the rectifier. I cleaned and repaired that and it seems to have resolved all the charging issues. I'm stoked on that simple fix, but I'll continue to monitor my battery voltage for a while. With that good step forward I also had a step back--this dumbass and didn't secure the pillion seat leaving work yesterday, so now I have to order a new one after searching around town for an hour with no luck

I've got a Haynes manual on the way and I'll be doing a lot of "new used bike" maintenance once it arrives. How does this to-do list sound? Any additions?
  • change oil/filter
  • clean air filter
  • check/top off other fluids (coolant, brakes)
  • take off fairings and clean engine
  • reinstall horn (previous owner attempted a fix)
  • check/clean up wiring and hoses (maybe changed easily replaced tape with shrink wrap or crimps)
  • install LED headlights (current ones are terrible)
  • install WigWag brake light
  • reinstall fairings with new "OEM" bolts (it's missing a few)
  • take it to a detailer friend to wash/wax
  • clean/lube chain
  • eventually...measure valve gaps once I'm comfortable wrenching?

Are there any common problems I should be on the look out for?

Just need a couple more posts... I have a rear stand, but would a front fork stand be necessary too?

FYI - if you jump start a bike with a car, DO NOT start the car. I'm so glad I looked that up before I tried it.

Picked up on a pattern of low idling and occasionally stalling last night. Looks like it might be a value adjustment issue (I was aware this was possibility when I bought it), but I'm going to check on the TPS first. If that doesn't fix it, I'll have to see if I can use my buddy's garage for a couple days.
