GIpro alternative wiring

I'm installing a GIpro x-type gear indicator on my 09 and I realized that I cannot use tail light wire as a switched power supply. Whenever I track the bike, I pull the fuses and that would also disable the gear indicator. I though of leaving the fuse in place, tap the tail light wire and unplug the connector under the seat, but it's a real PITA to disconnect. I'd rather just lift the side cover and pull the fuse.

What other wire do you tap on your track bikes for accessories like this?

So where did you tap the power supply? Also, do you have pictures of the final product on the dash?

Sorry it took me so long, here's the reply from Healtech.
In this case I'd recommend to connect the GPX Black/Green wire to the
Tachometer wire.
This is the Yellow/Black (Yellow with thin Black stripe) wire at the ECU
connector.
There may be two of this color at the ECU connector. It is safe to try both.
To make a temporary connection, it's best to use a thin needle and backprobe
the ECU connector pin.

While testing, connect the Red wire directly to the battery positive
terminal.

Once the unit is working and setup, connect the red wire to the switched
power lead at the fusebox. Any of those will do.
I haven't done it yet because I did not want to risk missing the last track day of the season. I'll post the results when I get to it.

I finally finished the install. I ended up taping into the tachometer wire going into the ECU. The wire is yellow with a black stripe and brown pairs of dots across it. It is in the outmost terminal block.

There are two identical wires, but only one is the correct one. I know because it wasn't the first one I tried, of course. The good cable is the one on the left side of the second row of wires.

The indicator is stuck to the top of the rev counter. You can also use the lower part of the tach because you don't need to see the needle when it's under 4k.

The power supply is the headlight wire at the fuse box. I just tapped into it. I checked with Healtech and it's ok to power the GIPro with a 15 Amp circuit. I took the lights off because I installed race bodywork. If you take it to the track, you will have to keep the fuse in and remove the headlight bulbs to to keep the GI running.
