Had a lot of fun, but there was a bad incident when someone's exhaust fell off and caused a big bike pileup. On my last lap at pace, you can see I barely missed the muffler at the top of a blind high speed corner.

Wow, just barely missed that muffler. How does that even happen?

Nice riding. good back and forth with you and the guy in the orange. I would imagine he was on a liter bike. About 6 mins in ya made a sweet pass on the chicane turns 13, 14 ,15. I gotta get out there and try that track out.

Yeah, he's on a really fast zx10r, and he's a really good rider. He's my competition in my novice races this year. Really cool guy. He was instructing the beginner groups throughout the day, reason for the orange vest. Going to be hard to get around him in a race because he's got about 60hp more than me...lol, but guys on 600s are still going much faster than us at expert race pace.

Why do you have to race litre bikes? Aren't there any novices on 600s?

Actually, I don't have to. I can race in the novice 1 (class for 600's) but I was much quicker than the rest of my novice 1 class that I decided to race with Novice 2(open SS, open SB) which is 750's and 1000's. Since it's open I am allowed to enter Novice 2, but I'm the only one a 600 running in that group. I took first in my first race in Novice 1 and I won by a lot and started reeling in Novice 2. Looking at lap times I knew I could finish on the podium of Novice 2 and would force me to learn more, and ride harder. That is why. Although...If I was smart I would enter Novice 1 because I can get Dunlop contingency money if I win.

Damn you must have some big balls to run with 750s and 1ks. That's awesome that you run the same lap times as those guys on bigger bikes. I'm spending this whole year practicing learning and getting faster so I can race next year. I'm hoping I can ride as good as you when I start racing. Good luck in the rest of your races.

Thanks dude! We are all novices and honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if I was slower on a liter bike. I think it would be too much of a handful at my skill level for that racetrack. The lap record for this track used to be held on a 600. It is now held by a liter bike, but I think the R6 has a clear advantage under braking compared to the bigger heavier bikes. Just easier to handle in general.

Btw, I think you'll learn a lot if you start racing sooner rather than later. This is my first year of track riding and racing combined. I did a New Racer School, and 1 trackday in April. Then started racing. Racing will push you. And as long as you are cautious, I think you will be okay. Everyone is different though. I'm just too competitive a person to just do trackdays.
