R6 stands and value of 05 motor

Just bought a race prepped 05R6 which I'll race in Exp SS and GTU next year.

What are good R6 stands (price pt/quality)? I prefer the triple clamp pin style of front stand and have spools in the rear.

What is the approx. value of a fairly fresh stock 05 motor?

The bike is mapped for MR9 (90 oct. oxygenated) so runs really rich on pump gas. Can I get a decent pump gas map - the motor is SS legal so I assume relatively stock.

Any other input/setup hints re: my bike would be very appreciated.

tks

steve.

Hello mate,

Good choice for a race bike.
Is it mapped by a power commander?
If so you can download maps, from the makers website.

If its a full custom map, then you need to take it to a specialist, who will map it however you like, for what fuel you want.

Thanks Guys - I have a PClll. The "problem" this is a factory race team motor so I don't know what the mods are.

It doesn't matter what the mods are. As long as there is a piggyback ECU that you can program (PCIII, Motec, etc) then just take it to a reputable dyno shop with a tank of whatever gas you're going to run it on, and tell them to tune it. Mods make absolutely no difference when it comes to tuning an engine, you just follow the air/fuel gauge until you get it right.

Make sure to get a copy of your current PCIII map saved for the race fuel to your home computer for backup before you go changing things to run on pump gas.

This way you can run race gas later on if you decide you want to for races and you can load the pump gas map when you want to run pump gas for practice.

Blue because it is faster.

Or get the map switch and have it mapped for both race and pump. Just flip the switch for whichever gas you use.

And I would aso look for used pitbull. I like the forklift that mounts under the forks instead of the pin style...check that one out as well. Check the WERA boards for used pitbulls.

Re: R6 stands and value of 05 motor

Is the map switch an addition to the PClll? My dynojet quick shifter doesn't seem to work - too much force to push into the next gear @ high revs.

I ended up buying a front triple stand from the group buy thru someoftheparts. $80 +15 for shipping.

yes, map switch hooks into the ignition module, I believe....and the quickshifter may need to be adjusted. If you are getting custom maps done have them look at the QS at that time.
