Brent Mesnick Finally it runs! It was the fuel pump. Tell tale signs was the pump leaking fuel when the hose was disconnected. Needless to say, got a used pump off eBay for $70 and installed and bam!!! Bike stated right up!

Brent Mesnick Update for the 2017 r6, maybe some one will chime in, otherwise this is for future owners with similar problem. As I said the bike was crashed on the left side. I bought the 4pin to odb2 connector off eBay, and pulled the codes this morning. Got a few codes back tire code and another, but notably was the p2122 and p2128 something with the accelerator timing sensor. Pulled off all the crap to get to the sensor on the throttle body, and everything checked out ok, checked all connections and nothing was loose or damaged Cleared the codes, tried to start and still no start, but no new codes were tripped. That leaves me to think the fuel pump was bad from the crash. Pulled it out and tested it with the multimeter, seemed to me that the manual didn’t give much information on the “number 3” float position, but seems the resistance is a bit high for the manual specs. Found a replacement pump
On ebay for $70, so I’ll give that a try and update after. If anyone has an idea why the bike started barley a couple times and won’t run now help would be appreciated.

that hose is only $99. it would be far less expensive to take it to the dealer and pay the $89 diagnostic fee. they can read the codes with the yamaha diagnostic software, run any diagnostics with the software and test the fuel pressure.
the new yamaha diagnostic system is nothing like using a run of the mill code reader. it's far more in depth.

oh and you can thank Euro emissions regulations why you don't have the built in diagnostics on your R6 not yamaha.

Brent Mesnick I’ve been doing some reading, maybe some one can chime in. It’s possible the fuel pump may have been damaged in the crash, and even though its priming, it may not be putting enough fuel in the engine. Anyone know a way to test the fuel pump, or have a cheap way to build a pressure gauge without buying the $250 yahama pressure gauge adapter? Would the lack of fuel pressure be a reason why the bike started, a couple times and won’t start again?

Brent Mesnick Ok thanks I was thinking I could use the code matrix from an older model R6. Hopefully someone else chimes in on a potential issue, I hope it’s something simple.

I’m pretty sure they’re the same as automotive codes for cars.

Brent Mesnick Thinking about getting the 4-pin to odb2 connector so I can pull the codes, I’m having trouble finding the list of codes for the 2017 R6.... anyone have a list of the codes so when I pull them I can try to fix the issue?

Brent Mesnick I’m located in San Diego, we got quite a bit of rain over the winter, and the bike was sitting out side, but all of the electrical connections are in good shape, especially the battery connections. And I thought it may be the tip over sensor also, but it did start a couple times. Also, all of the plugs were wet when I pulled them out to change them.

That was my first thought, but the fact that it started at all made me think otherwise.
