I know a lot of guys I ride with run to Marietta Motorsports from around here..., I don't know if they can do the engine maint. for ya, though
  2. Track days

RRR is my FAVORITE track in the SE so far..., friggin rock the throttle and go! I'll be at Barber to start the year in March, then BMP, TCP, JGP, RRR, and with a little luck, and road trip to something like VIR or Mid-Ohio in '08.
  3. to end the year..

    South East
A friend and I are swing down to (barring horrible weather) down to JenningsGP 12/29..., any other yamahaheads going?? I'll be in "I" to start the day since I heven't been there yet, then jumping up as long as there's room.

    yes. not selling one.
  5. Pulling while Turning

    Track Tech & Riding Techniques
The only other thing I'd add is you can push a little bit on your inside peg with your foot, as you get into "cornering form". But I'd leave this little tid bit for the track because it tends to backout your rear tire, and generally you won't be riding hard enough in the streets to warm it up...
  6. 1st Track Day

    General Discussions
Glad you enjoyed it..., in a few months, your wallet will wish you were addicted to crack instead of the track!! It's a nasty addiction, but the fix is amazing :). You got it right with suspension..., a properly set up bike, maybe some rubber, and seat time is way better than adding power on...
  7. yep. broke my fairing stay...

    General Discussions
I'd try JD Weld..., then get a couple oversized washers to apply pressure over more of the stay where it mounts. Hell, safety wire or zip-tie it after that. Stays aren't cheap, so I'd try to fix it. LOL @ rozero, I've done that a few times at the track!
  8. ? for TD junkies

    Track Tech & Riding Techniques
Boots..., I have a set of Nitro race boots, they were cheap and they got me out there. Now, after 6 (I think?) TDs, and a little bit of street riding, I've worn a hole in the bottom right at the ball of my feet. Left-side is worse, and after a day at TallyGP, I'm gimping around. So yes, I...
  9. (Video) Do's & Dont's when riding on the Track

    Track Tech & Riding Techniques
Nice. I would also like to add KEEP IN MIND, especially if you're in intermediate, there are people out there slower than you, and they're riding as hard as they can. So, watch coming into corners, especially hot ones, and brake a little more if needed, so you don't have to upright, try an...
  10. Need Some Help

    Track Tech & Riding Techniques
+1 on the track, it sounds like you'd love it! But first, seriously, check that "I'm not scared of anything" crap. Enough said, no need to lecture. Second, seat time, seat time, and more seat time. Read a few books, talk to guys with serious experience, and enjoy! I'm not a promoter of...
  11. Track day - Tally 9/22-23

    South East
Nitro, I plan to be there early Saturday morning for some rubber, not riding though, only on Sunday. If ya see a red/yellow 04 pittin' up, stop and say hi! DD - STT costs, I think $110 at TGP, but I'm stuck paying $125 for late sign-up. I feel your pain on a wreck though. Went down hard at...
  12. Track day - Tally 9/22-23

Anyone here going to the STT day at TGP? I'll be there Sat. morning for tires, riding Sunday.
  13. Expected for 2008?

    General Discussions
Shouldn't change much, there's the unwritten "3-4 year rule" on changing it up much. I for one really hope they get the throttle smoothed out, not happy with the 'fly-by-wire' tech on the 07, to much lag.
  14. Tuscaloosa Alabama

how about Montgomery...? Haven't found many riding buddies here, but there's a lot of guys up your way and near B'ham that I do TDs with.

cut the other one off, twist 'em together with a couple electrical nuts, and voila!, you're done. about 10 cents at Home Depot.

look like vortex, mine look like that compliments of Barber and Roebling Road. They do work well. Glad you're ok. Start hitting up ebay! And how the heck did the turn signal stay on?? I know, it's a mute point, but still....
  17. Is there any advantage?

    General Discussions
I don't use them, but most folks that like the shorty setup (that I've seen) like it because they can run 1 - 2 fingers on the levers and get full range of the lever without feeling like they may pinch it against their other fingers on the throttle/left-handle. Or they cut their clipons down...
  18. Help with riding position? PIC

    General Discussions
I ride way up on the tank, pretty much humping it. +1 to above - at the track, they'll help put you were you need to be. But off the top of my head, and only going off of one pic, and never seeing you ride..., I'd say you need to get off the seat a bit more. I'm 5'10", basically have my...
  19. SS brake lines?

    Track Tech & Riding Techniques
sounds like it's just a "looks" thing. For the pressures you'd be applying to those lines, SS lines should be fine. +1 to the guy that said "first mod I ever do"..., so often overlooked, but true in my opinion. Brakes, suspension, and seat-time will make you a better rider astronomically...
  20. Finally ready for a track day

    General Discussions
Welcome to t(c)rack days :). Be prepared to be broke, planning your life around the TD schedule, and sleeping a few nights on the couch, if you're married, for suggesting a long weekend to Utah so you can ride Miller on a saturday (I know from experience). One more suggestion, again if you're...
