  1. should headphones be allowed on the track?

    Track Tech & Riding Techniques
I'm ok with people wearing earplugs to cut down on the wind noise but music should not be played while riding on a track. Even if it doesn't distract you, it doesn't allow you to hear me right next to you before you swing out wide and park it going down the front straight.

  6. Suspension adjustment does nothing?

    Garage / Mechanical Help
what year? How many miles? When you say "does nothing" do you mean that it doesn't feel like its physically connected to the internals, or that you just don't feel the adjustments in your suspension? If you have more than 15k miles on your bike without a fork rebuild, the fluid might be worn...

The parts off your model aren't interchangable with the "S" model, especially the clipons. The upside down forks on your bike require something like a 55mm or 58mm clipon, the "s" models came with 48mm clipons because they used standard forks.

  12. 04 Tranny Problems - Gears, forks, drum, or something else?

    Garage / Mechanical Help
1st off, if two of the metals were scarred, you need to replace the metals as well as the frictions. A stock set of metals will work fine and can be had fairly cheaply. Will it go into 5th or 6th if you put it on a stand and just slowly rotate the wheel by hand? Sounds like a bent fork.

if you bent a shift fork bad enough it could cause these problems. Have you really jammed on the shifter at all recently? Come down hard from a wheelie and didn't notice you used your shift lever as a footpeg? Have kids that may be climbing on the bike when you're not around?

  18. brakepads??

    Track Tech & Riding Techniques
if you brake harder and later, you can brake for a shorter amount of time to keep the same entry speed as if you braked earlier and softer. Even on trackdays, I'm not gonna let off the gas before I absolutely have to, which means I'll be braking as hard as I can at every corner.
  19. Pulsing Front Brake

    Garage / Mechanical Help
It could be a few things, but most likely is warped rotors. Try new pads first, and when you have the pads out, make sure you clean the pistons really well. Whats the wear on your front tire look like? A under-inflated tire can wear unevenly and cause a pulsation/headshake while coming to a...
