Hey guys..I'm having a starting problem. My bike cranks slowly as if the battery is dead. I replaced the 3 main components of the charging system.. new stator, rectifier and battery and the bike is charging 14.3 14.5 volts at 5000 rpm. After riding for a few days on the new battery all of a sudden it begins to slow crank. I have checked and cleaned the grounds and battery terminals it made no change.I think the starter motor has a high amp draw. Can anyone help me please ?

The problem is the starter motor. When i disassembled it the brushes were worn and the coating around the armature was disintegrated. This caused a build up of resistance and the motor to draw to crank slow as if the battery was old.

good to know. i have not heard of this happening, ever.. but considering many 2nd gen bikes are now 10+ years old, and many have high mileage, will be something to look at with these symptoms
