The plug for the kickstand is under the tank. Unplug it and short the wires in the plug on the harness side (not the lead that goes down to the kick stand). You can use a paper clip or piece of wire. See if it works then. If so, the switch is bad or the wires from the plug to the kick stand switch are broken.

What's the plug look like? 2 pin?

Is it a blue plug? That's what I traced it back too. Can I just cut the connection and splice the 2 wires together?
