Hey,
New to the forum, I just got my 2005 R6, first bike, and the thing is badass. I've gotta save some money up before I can put any mods on it. I was curious if anyone knows the exact horsepower of my bike. I've been looking everywhere, and they say that it has 5 more horsepower then the '04, but of course, I can't find that spec either. Thanks for the help

Yamaha claims it has 3 more than the '03-04.

Take it to a shop and have them basline it on the dyno. And see what YOUR bike makes.

If I had to guess I'd say between 104-108 HP.

The '05 R6 has 101.7 hp @ 13k RPM and 42.3 Torque @ 10,250 RPM.

I think this is more accurate! The specs came from Cycle World (Feb. 2005 issue) I was gonna dyno my bike before I installed the BF high mount, but didn't want to break my bike in on the dyno if you know what I mean.

I think Yamaha claims 120 bhp which is ~107 rwhp. Sportrider did a test and with a Micron slip-on I think they were able to get 110 rwhp.

Yeah I would say around 105rwhp, it all depends on your engines power curve. They are all different due to machining variances in the heads ect.

Yeah well SR uses a very optimistic dyno not to mention there is much speculation that magazines get "prepped" bikes from the factory. My shop said that every stock '03-04, that they dynp'd, put down between 98-102HP. So I was being generous with my estimate.

With V-Stacks, BF high mount and a custom mapped PCIII my '04 is putting down 103HP. You can't believe everything in the magazines.

I was reading in Sport Rider (March '05) the '05 R6 has 110.9 HP @ 13,000 RPM and Torque= 45.1 @ 12,000 rpm.
