2007 r6 trans issue?

So I'm fairly new to the bike community and brand new to working on my own bike. Long story short I bought the bike a few months back. With a few problems but nothing major. I was out riding yesterday and noticed my gears are not acting right. 1st and 2nd get up to speed no problem but 3rd thru 6th is atrocious. Even if I'm using all 16K rpm to get into the next gear it just doesn't wanna go. For example, 6th gear pinned it's only going 95 mph, no short shifting or anything. Spark plugs were changed 250 miles ago so I don't think that's the problem. I don't even know where to begin. I would appreciate all the help I can get. Thank you for your time.

95 mph and what are the rpm’s? 16k? What you are describing sounds like a clutch slipping issue.

95 mph is all it will give me at 16k rpm in 6th. My group chat is saying it's probably my clutch slipping. That would make since as a new clutch was put on a few weeks before I bought the bike. Clutch slipping is your guess too?
Yeah. If the rpm’s are rising and the speed is not, then the clutch is slipping. Could be a miss adjustment of the cable. Since you’ve been hammering on it when it’s slipping, the clutch plates are probably wasted now anyway. At 95 mph, in 6th gear, you should be around 10k rpm. Provided you don’t have a giant rear sprocket on it.

sounds like a clutch slipping issue. buy an OEM clutch kit, aftermarket ones just never perform/last the same as OEM. here is a link the parts diagram, it'll be part #34. 2007 Yamaha YZF-R6 OEM Parts | MotoSport This is for the 3rd gen r6, not the r6s that's based on the 2nd gen. this is an easy task for anyone, and there's plenty of YouTube videos out there to help you. Just make sure you put the pressure plates/friction plates in the right order :) Hopefully this solves your problem.

i tried messing w the cable at my lever and down farther on the part before it goes into trans but still having the same issue or even worse. im guessing youre right and my plates are now shot from it slipping and me hammering it. hoping this is problem lol, thank you for your help! i definitely appreciate it

Nothing about this damn bike has been easy lol. im hoping this is my problem and i can get back out n ride again soon. thank you for your help!
Bought mine recently with only 2k and the clutch was slipping under moderate-high and high loads. Prior owner adjusted the clutch lever free-play on a hot engine. Holds fine after undoing his adjustment.

Needless to say, slipping the clutch out of first gear greatly accelerates wear. There's a chance yours may require service anyway. Properly adjusted and ridden, they last an inordinate amount of time. My prior was closing in on 80 or 90k before the bike was totaled in a rear-ender.
